World Food Programme of the United Nations announced on
Wednesday that the campaign launched to collect donations to help Syrian
refugees managed to raise about 5-year $ 21 million on its first day, about
one-third of the target amount.
WFP said in a statement expressed optimism the successful
campaign to collect donations for the resumption of the distribution of food aid
to 7.1 million Syrian refugees, noting that the outcome of the campaign (one
dollar for Syrian refugees), which was launched yesterday on social networks
almost 5-year $ 21 million during the first 24 hours.
In a related development, the World Food Program in Geneva
announced that he will be able to resume food aid to Syrian refugees by next
week, after a campaign financing which enables the UN program of collecting
donations valued at $ 80 million for this purpose.
WFP was forced last week to halt all allocated for 7-year aid
1 million Syrian refugees displaced from their country to neighboring countries
as a result of lack of donor countries for adequate funding.
Since the World Food Program launched a campaign donations
last Wednesday on Internet stocks donated 14 thousand individuals from the
private sector and donations worth 8-year $ 1 million.
And reached additional government donations totaling that
amount to more than $ 80 million, which is more than funding the $ 64 million
deficit in the current month.
For its part Aatharin cusine Executive Director of the World
Food Programme said that "this outpouring of support in such a short period is
unprecedented."
It is noteworthy that more individual donors were followed by
Syrian citizenship, US and Canadian donors.

واعرب البرنامج في بيان عن تفاؤله بنجاح حملته لجمع
التبرعات اللازمة لاستئناف توزيع المساعدات الغذائية على 7ر1 مليون لاجئ سوري مشيرا
الى ان حصيلة حملة (دولار واحد للاجئين السوريين) التي أطلقها أول من أمس على شبكات
التواصل الاجتماعي قاربت 5ر21 مليون دولار خلال أول 24 ساعة.
وفي سياق متصل، أعلن برنامج الأغذية العالمي في جنيف
أنه سيتمكن من استئناف مساعداته الغذائية للاجئين السوريين بحلول الأسبوع المقبل
وذلك بعد حملة تمويل تمكن خلاله البرنامج التابع للأمم المتحدة من جمع تبرعات بقيمة
80 مليون دولار لهذا الغرض.
كان برنامج الأغذية العالمي قد اضطر الأسبوع الماضي
إلى وقف كل مساعداته المخصصة ل7ر1 مليون لاجئ سوري نزحوا من بلادهم إلى البلاد
المجاورة نتيجة عدم تقديم الدول المانحة للتمويل الكافي.
ومنذ أن أطلق برنامج الأغذية العالمي حملة تبرعات
الأربعاء الماضي على الإنترنت أسهم 14 ألف متبرع من القطاع الخاص والأفراد بتبرعات
بقيمة 8ر1 مليون دولار.
ووصلت تبرعات حكومية إضافية بإجمالي هذا المبلغ إلى
أكثر من 80 مليون دولار، وهي تزيد عن عجز التمويل الذي بلغت قيمته 64 مليون دولار
في الشهر الجاري.
من جانبها قالت إيثارين كازين المدير التنفيذي
لبرنامج الأغذية العالمي إن "هذا السيل من الدعم في مثل تلك الفترة القصيرة غير
مسبوق".
يذكر أن أكثر المتبرعين الأفراد هم سوريون الجنسية
تلاهم متبرعون أمريكيون وكنديون.
